Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 16, 2026

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains what data is collected while using the Pixelbite app, how it is used, and how it is protected. By using the app, you agree to this policy. Pixelbite is run by an individual developer, who is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy (see section 8 for contact details). Pixelbite is intended for people aged 18 or over, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone younger.

2. Data We Collect

We collect your email address when you create your account; your age, height, weight, gender, activity level, diet style, goal, and allergy information during onboarding; and the meal photos you take while using the app along with the nutritional value data generated from them. We store your device’s push notification token (via Firebase) so we can send you notifications. If you allow ad measurement, we also collect your device’s advertising identifier and a few app events (such as finishing sign-up, viewing the subscription screen, and logging your first meal). Your weight, height, goal, and allergy details relate to your body and diet and may be treated as health data. If you create an avatar, the photo you choose is used to generate it. Your username, avatar, level, and XP can be seen by other users in features such as the leaderboard and friends list; the foods you log are shown to your friends only if you turn on that sharing option.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use this data to calculate a daily calorie/macro target tailored to you, to analyze meal photos and produce nutritional value estimates, to track your progress, and to send streak/notification reminders. If you allow ad measurement, we use this information only to see which of our ads led you to Pixelbite and which of them led to a subscription. We do not sell your data, and your meals, photos, and health details are never shared for advertising. We process your data to provide the features you use in the app. Where the law requires your explicit consent (for example for health-related details, or for sending photos to the AI service described in section 4), we ask for it in the app, and you can withdraw it at any time by contacting us or deleting your account. With Pixelbite Pro we also use it to write tips for your meals and a short daily summary of your day, as described in section 4.

4. Third-Party Services

We use Supabase for account and data storage, RevenueCat to manage subscriptions, Google and Apple authentication services for optional quick sign-in, and Firebase for notifications and crash reports. If you allow ad measurement, we also share the information described above with Meta Platforms (through its SDK and RevenueCat) and use Apple Search Ads attribution to measure our ads. You can withdraw this permission at any time in Privacy settings. These services are subject to their own privacy policies. To analyze meal photos and text and to generate pixel art and avatars, we send what you submit (the meal photo or description, or the photo you choose for an avatar) to the Pollinations AI service, which uses third-party AI models to produce the result. We do not send your name or email address with these requests. Our database and file storage (Supabase) are located in Tokyo, Japan, and some of the services above (such as Firebase, RevenueCat, and Meta) process data in other countries, including the United States, so your data may be transferred outside your country of residence. We rely on the safeguards available under applicable law for these transfers. Because scanning meals, typing in meals and creating an avatar from a photo need this AI processing, Pixelbite asks for your explicit agreement when you first set up your account, and again before the first use if you declined. If you decline, those features stay unavailable while the rest of the app keeps working. You can change your choice at any time in Privacy settings. Meal tips and the daily summary (Pixelbite Pro) use the same AI service. To write them we also send the name and nutrition values of the meal (or of that day’s meals), your goal, diet style, allergies and daily nutrition targets; we never send your weight, height, age, name or email address with these requests. Meal tips are written when you ask for them; the daily summary is written automatically on our servers in the evening, only for Pro members who have agreed to AI processing and logged a meal that day, and you can turn it off in Notification settings. The tips and summaries are stored with your account and deleted when you delete it. The agreement you give for AI processing covers these features too.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account from the "Privacy and Account" screen in your profile. You can manage your photo-retention preference from the same screen — when enabled, scanned photos are deleted after analysis. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data without undue delay, except where we must keep it by law. Data already received by third-party services (such as Meta, RevenueCat, or the AI service) is kept under their own policies.

6. Data Security

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and protected with reasonable technical measures against unauthorized access. However, no system can guarantee 100% security.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, and request deletion of your data. You can submit these requests from within the app or at the contact address below. If you are in Türkiye, you have the rights listed in Article 11 of the Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK). If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you also have the rights to restrict or object to processing, to data portability, and to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority. California residents have the rights described in the CCPA, and we do not sell personal information. We reply to requests sent to the contact address below.
